About Us: In Our Community

Overview

The American Red Cross of Greater Columbus, a humanitarian service organization, is dedicated to helping make families and communities safer at home and around the world. The Red Cross responds to nearly 400 local disasters each year and mobilizes volunteers when needed nationwide. Last year more than 49,500 individuals enrolled in Red Cross courses to learn vital lifesaving skills like first aid and CPR. Seventy-one thousand residents learned about how to prepare for disasters and other emergencies.

The Red Cross also sent nearly 480 emergency messages between families and their loved ones serving in the military. The chapter’s transportation program provided nearly 19,000 rides to medical appointments for seniors, disabled individuals and others. All these programs and more are made possible by the donations of time and money from this community.
