Survey
Finds Concerns About Economy May Increase Incidence of Home
Fires
The
American Red Cross and the National Fire Protection
Association (NFPA) released results of a survey showing the
majority (79%) of Americans are concerned about the rising
cost of heating their homes, and many will use an alternative
heating source to reduce their bills this winter. The survey
identified additional behaviors related to appliance
maintenance and cooking that could also present home fire
hazards this winter. Click

Telling
our story
as a new year begins
The year 2008 was
quite successful for the American Red Cross. In chapters,
Blood Services regions and Red Cross units around the nation
and the globe, volunteers responded to disaster, taught
lifesaving preparedness skills, supported victims of
international crises and helped U.S. service members and their
families.
See our story in the "Images
of Hope and Help: 2008 in pictures" slideshow.
